The local Marseille HASSIP page

HASSIP is the acronym for "Harmonic Analysis and Statistics for Signal and Image Processing", the title of a European Union RTN (Research Training and Mobility) network due to start in October 2002.  Thje goal of HASSIP is to develop and enforce interdisciplinary research and training activities in mathematics and signal processing.

The Marseille node (which also serves as network co-ordinator) consists in two main teams:

and a satellite node: the METISS  (Modélisation et Expérimentation pour le Traitement des Informations et des Signaux Sonores) project of IRISA, INRIA Rennes.

Job opportunity:

Within the framework of the RTN programme, the HASSIP teams will hire post-doctoral and pre-doctoral fellows in various disciplines, related to the main theme of the network. Funding is provided by Marie Curie fellowships, which basically implies that candidates (35 years old at most for post-docs) must be nationals of an EU Member or Associated State, or have resided in the EU for at least five years immediately prior to their selection. In addition, they must not undertake their fellowship in the country of their nationality or recent centre of activity. Nationals from an Associated State can only carry out their fellowship in a Member State.

The Marseille group offers a PostDoc position (starting in October 2002). The candidates will be involved in the research activities of the team, and more generally participate in the HASSIP activities. They should have some background in signal processing, harmonic analysis (wavelets, local trigonometric expansions, time-frequency transforms,...) and/or statistics. Programming skills (C/C++, JAVA, Matlab, Octave,...) will be welcome.
Potential candidates are invited to contact  Bruno Torresani  and  Richard Kronland-Martinet , and send as soon as possible a short curriculum vitae.
