Persons in charge
Etienne Pardoux University of Provence, Marseille.
Ahmadou Bamba Sow Gaston Berger University, Saint Louis.

PRESENTATION
This Research School is designed for researchers and graduate students who wish to improve their knowledge of probability, stochastic processes, statistics, and their applications to the life sciences. More precisely the topics of this School is "probabilistic models and statistical tools in population dynamics and genetics".
PRE-REQUISIT
A solid knowledge of Markov chains, the Poisson process, Brownian motion, stochastic calculus and Markov processes. A knowledge of the free software R is highly recommended. If possible the participants should bring a laptop to attend the School, on which on which R should be installed.
PROGRAM
This school will last two weeks and start Monday, April 12 in the morning. Each participant must be in St Louis on April 11.
The School will include 5 series of 4 lectures of one hour and a half each. These courses will be given in the morning.

Talks presenting applications to Life Sciences will be given by the following researchers working in IRD

Jean Dominique Durand Identification of cryptic species using both phylogenetic and population genetics approaches.
Laurent Granjon Phylogeography in West Africa: Case studies in Rodents.

A talk on mathematical epidemiology will be given by a mathematician from IRD :

Gauthier Sallet Modelling and Analysis of HBV Transmission in Senegal.

The afternoons will be devoted to personal work on the lectures, "answers to questions and exercices" sessions. Practical exercises on computers will be proposed by certain courses. There will also be lectures by attendees on their research work.
