Basic Information
The LATP (Laboratory for Analysis, Topology and Probability, UMR division of the CNRS) and the University of Marseille-Provence is organizing a Colloquium on Knot Theory, Low dimensional Topology and Group Geometry from May 22 to June 2, 2006 in Marseille (France). The conference is dedicated to the 60th birthday of Michel Domergue and to the memory of Yves Mathieu. The conference will be held during the first week, whereas the second is devoted to a Summer School on Heegaard-Floer homology and Khovanov homology, mainly intended for students.

Excursion and dinner
Thurs
day (May 25) is legal holiday (Ascension day); we will organize
 
  a sea cruise of 1 hours and half  


around the callanques of Marseille - Cassis





  we will take a bus from Saint Charles campus to Cassis,



and a dinner on the evening.

Other useful information

Visa. EU-citizens do not need a visa to enter France. Please make sure you have one if you need one. 

Weather. The weather in May is mostly sunny and very nice, with an average temperature of about 20°C.

Insurance. Please check whether your stay is covered by your current insurance policy.

Registration desk. A registration desk will be set up at the University of Aix-Marseille I in the ''Amphithéâtre de Chimie'' (Saint Charles campus, main building) on Monday morning from 8.00 a.m. to 9.45. We can provide a weekly subway card with return tickets for bus and subway (a trip either way a day) for € 15. Please inform us by e-mail if you would like us to keep one for you. Saint Charles campus is close to the downtown area, so you can also walk (15 minutes).
