Music: J.S. Bach (Double Violin Concerto in D minor).
Choreography: George Balanchine.
Sets and costumes: Eugene Berman.

Premiere: on May 29, 1941, by the American Ballet Caravan at the Hunter College, New York. It was an open dress rehearsal, the real premiere was on June 27 1941 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). A new production, mostly without any sets, in practice clothes, was premiered by the New York City Ballet on Oct 11, 1948.

In the repertoire of the Paris Opera Ballet since 1963.
